Ostler Vineyards - Unique New Zealand Wine

Ostler Vineyards is a boutique producer of wines of distinction in the South Island’s Waitaki Valley. From select and hand-tended vineyards we produce memorable cool climate wines: Pinot noir, Pinot gris and Riesling.

It’s all about terroir

  • Growing grapes in the Waitaki Valley – New Zealand’s newest premium wine region
  • Limestone-based soils
  • Uncompromising standards of sustainable ultracool-climate viticulture
  • Passionately producing wines of elegance and balance; 'wines of subtlety, complexity and specificity of place'

'38 million years in the making' - limestone based

The wine-making is carried out with as little intervention as possible by Jeff Sinnott using the traditional techniques of Burgundy and Alsace, with subtle use of oak.

Cellar Door:  Our cellar door is the 'Vintner's Drop' -  in the Old Post Office in Kurow.  Here we offer Ostler wine tastings and retail sales.  From Labour Weekend to Easter we are open from Thursday through Sunday, during the peak summer season we are open 7 days.  During the winter we are often here but phone first for tastings and bottle sales except for group tastings which are available by prior arrangement.
