Caroline's 2015 Pinot Noir wins Gold!
When you enter a wine in a competition as prestigious as the International Wine Challenge in London, you enter with trepidation and hope that the people 'in the know' will like it, but also realistic about the plethora of amazing wines that are entered.
Even though our 2015 Caroline's was well received at Pinot 2017 in February, the general consensus was that it was still very young (which it is!) and needed to develop a lot more in the bottle.
When we did our pre-release specials earlier in the year, we made it very clear that this wine should be cellared for at least 6 months to a year, preferably longer.
What we did not expect was a Gold Award and a Trophy at the IWC less than six months later!
Of course, we are absolutely blown away and huge credit goes to our winemaker Jeff Sinnott and his team.
It also reconfirms for us that our Clos Ostler vineyard, where Caroline's is grown, is truly a special site and has the qualities to produce a world class wines.
- Tasting Notes:
Floral and aromatic with a complex nose of delicate strawberry, cedar, white pepper and an appealing earthiness. Mellow, gentle tannins with a fresh, complex finish.
