The Waitaki Valley in North Otago is one of New Zealand's most exciting and newest vignobles.
The climate is definitely cool, and the limestone soils require long hang-time for grapes to ripen.
The wines from the region show great elegance and a minerality which may be their defining feature and character.
Ostler is based on an 8 ha site established by Jim and Anne Jerram with the talented winemaker Jeff Sinnott, who is Anne's brother as partner and winemaker. The first harvest was in 2004.
The Ostler estate fruit is supplemented by grapes from the Crosbie ‘Blue House' and Paul Sinnott's ‘Lemon Spring' vineyards in the Waitaki Valley region.
